We are glad you are here. Torah Lock helps you begin each morning with Shema and a few personalized Tehillim before your most distracting apps open. Below are answers to the questions we hear most. If you do not find what you need, we would love to hear from you directly.
Common questions
How do I choose which apps to block?
Open your block list in the app and select the apps that pull at you first thing in the morning, such as social media, news, or games. Torah Lock uses Apple's Screen Time framework, so your choices stay on your device and only the apps you pick are paused each morning until you finish the prayer flow.
How does Shabbat detection work?
Torah Lock checks the Jewish calendar through the Hebcal API, together with your optional city-level location, to know when Shabbat and major holidays fall. On those holy days there is no blocking at all, and your streak is preserved automatically so you never feel penalized for resting.
How do I use emergency unlock?
If you truly need an app before finishing, you can complete the short prayer flow at any time to unlock right away. The full flow, Shema plus your personalized Tehillim, takes under five minutes, and once you finish, all of your chosen apps unlock for the rest of the day.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Torah Lock is free to download with an optional paid subscription. Subscriptions run through your Apple ID, so you can view, change, or cancel anytime in the iPhone Settings app: tap your name, then Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future renewals while keeping your access through the end of the current period.
How do I delete my data?
App-restriction enforcement is fully on-device, and Torah Lock never collects or transmits which apps you use. To remove the limited anonymous analytics and any optional location data, simply delete the app from your iPhone, or email us and we will gladly help.
Is there an Android version?
Torah Lock is currently an iPhone app, because its blocking depends on Apple's Screen Time and Family Controls frameworks. There is no Android version at this time.
